ISACS Accreditation: Excellence, Accountability, and Growth
As part of our commitment to providing a transformative education, West End School is proud to be accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS).
What is ISACS?
ISACS is a regional organization accrediting over 240 independent schools across 13 states. Their mission is to lead schools in providing exemplary education while fostering environments that are equitable, safe, and just. For West End School, this accreditation is a “seal of approval” verifying that we meet the highest national standards of educational quality and institutional integrity.
Why does accreditation matter for our families?
Accreditation is a rigorous, ongoing process that ensures we live up to our promise to your children through:
- External Validation: Peer experts visit our campus to verify that our programs and operations meet national best practices.
- Continuous Improvement: We undergo a deep reflection of our strengths and growth areas every seven years.
- Mission Alignment: ISACS ensures our academics and character development align with our mission to establish the foundation for a purposeful life.
The Seven-Year Cycle: Our Current Journey
Accreditation is an ongoing journey, not a one-time event.
This year is particularly significant as our leadership team focuses on two major priorities:
The ISACS Self-Study: Our faculty, staff, and board are currently reflecting on every aspect of WES to prepare for our formal accreditation visit.
Growth and Expansion: This self-reflection coincides with the historic opening of our Girls’ Program, ensuring our high standards are embedded in our expanded mission from day one.
How often does this happen?
The full review occurs every seven years, but we submit regular progress reports to ISACS to ensure we are maintaining our standards.
Does this change what my child learns?
It does not dictate our specific curriculum, but it ensures our teaching is effective, research-based, and helps scholars achieve their highest potential.
Who runs ISACS and what is NAIS?
ISACS is governed by a Board of Trustees from member schools. It operates under the guidelines of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). While NAIS provides nationwide advocacy and best practices, ISACS specifically manages the accreditation for schools in our region.
